Do NOT Turn the Page
A story with all the makings of a classic, Do Not Turn the Page by Jane Blondie and Marcus Cutler draws inspiration from a Sesame Street favourite.
Charlie is having the best time outside getting nice and dirty. They are having so much fun that they are desperate for you not to turn the page. Each turn of the page is one step closer to bath time and who wants to have a bath anyway!
Jane Blondie has drawn inspiration from an old classic, The Monster at the End of this Book by Jon Stone. Just like lovable Grover, Charlie pleads with the reader, breaking the fourth wall. I love how the style of this book appeals directly to the readers and brings them right into Charlie’s world. Readers will definitely relate to Charlie and everything they are doing to avoid bath time and then, ultimately, having the best time in the bath. Very relatable and super fun.
This story is hilarious and makes for an amazing, interactive read aloud. Adults reading to children can really play up the story and can invite young listeners to be part of the telling by inviting them to think like Charlie.
Marcus Culter’s illustrations are filled with exciting surprises. The details put into each spread allows readers to have a new experience each time they pick up this story for a read. I love that the pages are filled with colour and action making the story extra entertaining.
