Bob The Boo-Boo
A delightful story that will ease young readers, Bob the Boo-Boo by Mélina Schoenborn and Sandra Dumais puts a creative spin on little accidents.
Bob the Boo-Boo is looking for a new home. He walks around finding various people who he can live with, eventually finding a boy who has fallen off his bike. The boy allows Bob to stay a while and live on his knee until it’s time for him to move along.
Mélina Schoenborn has created a story from a very unique perspective. How many stories can you name that are from the perspective of what is essentially a scab on a child’s knee? Bob is such a cute little boo-boo just looking for a home to be warm and cozy for a little while.
I love how this story can ease a reader's mind about getting hurt. Scrapes and scratches are such an integral part of childhood. As readers are trying new things, they are bound to get little boo-boos along the way and Bob the Boo-Boo can help them recognize that having a boo boo is not all that bad and that they eventually fade and go away over time.
Sandra Dumais’ illustrations are just plain adorable. I love how she’s represented Bob the Boo-Boo as well as incorporated a childhood favourite, the colourful bandage. I love all the different designs that she has thought up for the bandages!
